In 2026, Calp begins the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of its Moors and Christians festivities in honor of the Santísimo Cristo del Sudor. These celebrations have evolved from an improvised proposal into a cultural and tourist benchmark outside of the summer season. The festival was born in 1976 with a small parade organized by a group of friends wearing rented costumes. Within just a few months, it was structured with the first filaes (Almogávares and Calpins on the Christian side; Berberiscos and Califach on the Moorish side) and the creation of the Association, which provided stability, regulations, and continuity to the celebration.

Since then, citizen participation has been the key to its growth: the filaes and their representatives have turned the festival into a collective project involving entire families, strengthening community coexistence and ensuring generational renewal. In parallel, the Association has driven an evolution toward a more inclusive festival, normalizing female captaincies, girls as ensigns (alférez), and men as flag bearers (abanderados), which has broadened representation and the sense of belonging. The success of this involvement is reflected in milestones such as the 25th anniversary in 2001 and the current preparation for the fiftieth anniversary through a specific commission.

The element that most distinguishes Calp is El Miracle (The Miracle), a representation based on the events of October 22, 1744, featuring unique characters (Caragol as the hero and Moncófar as the betrayal) and the intervention of Christ as the devotional core. The festival is built around this act, along with the Landing (Desembarco) and a Parade that has become increasingly refined and professional, turning into a grand cultural spectacle. With recognitions such as the declaration of Regional Tourist Interest (2013) and the pending application for National Tourist Interest status, the festivities are also established as an economic engine and an example of sustainable cultural tourism, inviting everyone in 2026 to discover a tradition with deep roots and a vision for the future.
